At Movement Works we understand the importance of dedicating time to personal growth and development, which is why we created this holistic weekend retreat, offering you the opportunity to bond and explore with others who have a similar mindset.

By taking part in our offerings, which include classes, workshops, healing sessions, focused meditations, and journaling; you will rejuvenate your body, lighten your mind, embrace your emotions, and refresh your perspective and lens on life.

Our compassionate, certified instructors offer a variety of class options ranging from yoga to Ayurveda to fitness and more. Individual slots are made available for vibrational sound therapy or a personalized Reiki session. Our retreat will be held both indoors and outdoors at Movement Works and includes lunch on Saturday and Sunday. Also included are two mini excursions to scenic, coastal properties where you will be guided through various self-reflective activities.

This retreat is designed for those ages 18 and older and for those of all levels of physical skills and previous experience with movement, exercise and yoga.  This retreat offers something for everyone simply by being, by allowing, and by feeling.

All CDC guidelines related to the pandemic will be followed. Space is limited to 16 participants.

Optional Zumba© or Barre Above© class. On Saturday classes for the general public are held at the studio. At 9am you have the option to take a high energy Zumba© class or a sculpting Barre Above© class. If you would like to skip this offering and begin your Saturday with yoga at 10:15am the option is available.

Lunch & Excursions

On Saturday you will enjoy a vegan or non-vegan lunch provided by a local eatery. Sunday an organic lunch will take place at the studio. Over the course of the weekend, we will travel to several coastal locations situated in close proximity to the studio in both NC and SC.

Things to Bring

Yoga mat and any props needed such as a yoga block, strap, and blanket or towel.  Water bottle and snacks. A change of clothes.  A light jacket, hat, shoes or sandals for walking in the woods and shelled beach areas, and sunscreen for our outdoor excursions.

Time slots for Individualized Sound or Reiki Healing will be made available on Saturday in

30-minute increments. If more are needed, we will arrange for additional ones on Sunday during the retreat.

About your instructors

Our retreat will be directed by Nancy Smith, the artistic director of Movement Works. Sound and Reiki healing will be led by Teresa Yates of Cloud 9 Reiki and Vibrational Sound Therapy and Hillary Carlisle of Great Love Health is our Ayurveda specialist. Each instructor’s bio is available on our site under the FACULTY tab if you would like more information about each teacher.


Our studio is located one mile from the NC/SC state lines. Students will make a choice to stay in either state as there are a variety of AirBandB options, beach houses, condos, hotels and motels. For those of you staying in SC you’ll want to look for accommodations in the Little River, North Myrtle Beach or Myrtle Beach area. Those wanting to stay in NC your options range from the little town of Calabash to Sunset Beach, Ocean Isle Beach and Holden Beach.
