Sensei Gerry Egan’s martial arts career began over 20 years ago in 1988 at the age of 11 in a small area North of Dublin Ireland. His initial training was in Cui Dao Kempo and branched out to Taekwondo. Egan moved to the United States in the mid 90’s and began training in American Karate and Kickboxing. Soon after Mr. Egan was made Assistant Instructor and got the opportunity to compete in several East Coast Amateur Kickboxing bouts along with attending numerous annual seminars to increase his knowledge.
Desiring to branch out on his own and follow his passion for teaching in August of 2009 Sensei Egan opened Longbay Martial Arts Academy in North Myrtle Beach and began training in Brazilian Jui-jitsu and Muai Thai. 3 years later Gerry opened Coastal Academy of Martial Arts in Little River and shortly after was introduced to and began to continue his training under Shihan Sutzer. Sensei Egan teaches classes both public and private in American Kickboxing, Karate, and Personal Protection and in recent years began teaching Anti Bullying seminars to local beach area youth in an effort to combat the problems they face and to give back to the community.
