Youth Yoga Program

Movement Works offers yoga classes for children and teenagers from elementary school through high school.  Classes are divided into age levels, to ensure that the content is appropriate and to foster a sense of community, in which students support each other and learn to take the lessons yoga teaches out into the world around them. In all cases, the emphasis is on having fun, moving well, and settling into the body and breath. Yoga classes can also provide a safe haven during times of stress and change, where kids and teenagers alike can tune into their inner strengths and discover a sense of calm.

Creative Yoga and Tumble, ages 4.5 – 6.5  This class teaches fundamental gross motor skills through dance, yoga and gymnastic based exercises. Class includes building basic tumbling skills, dance and yoga poses that incorporate balance, posture and teamwork. Students will leave this class feeling invigorated, confident and self-aware.

Yoga Kids, ages 7-12 This class will allow one to improve and cultivate strength, flexibility and coordination and comprehension. Children will learn how to focus and center themselves with various breathing and visualization techniques. They will also learn self-respect and respect for others with the practice of fun and challenging poses, partner and group poses, lots of yoga games, breathing and basic anatomy.
